This study unit deals with the rules which apply to customary marriages
entered into before and after the coming into operation of the Recognition
of Customary Marriages Act 120 of 1998, the rules which apply in the case
where a civil marriage is concluded by a spouse who is also a party to a
customary marriage and, lastly, with the Constitution and customary
marriages.
