You, inter alia, saw that both parents have equal guardianship over the children born of their marriage. In this study unit, where we discuss the guardianship which replaces parental authority, you will notice that it is not only a parent (or parents) who may act as the guardian (or guardians) of a child. Our law provides that a guardian may be appointed over the person and estate (or only over the estate) of a minor who does not have parents. 283
