<strong>the</strong> common-law application for ejectment from <strong>the</strong> matrimonial home, a<br />

spouse who is subjected <strong>to</strong>, or is threatened with, domestic violence can<br />

invoke <strong>the</strong> provisions of <strong>the</strong> Domestic Violence Act <strong>to</strong> prevent <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

spouse from entering <strong>the</strong> matrimonial home or part of it (see <strong>study</strong> unit 8).<br />

Also, if <strong>the</strong> court is satisfied that it is in <strong>the</strong> best interests of any child, it<br />

may refuse <strong>the</strong> perpetra<strong>to</strong>r contact with any child in <strong>the</strong> care of <strong>the</strong> victim<br />

of domestic violence, or impose conditions in respect of his or her contact<br />

with <strong>the</strong> child (see <strong>study</strong> unit 26).<br />
