The database server used for the eG database can either reside on the eG manager itself or it could be hosted on an external server. The installation process will attempt to connect to the database server and install the eG tables/objects in the database. In the next step (shown in Figure 3.13) specify the type of database that should be used to host the eG database. To configure the eG manager system to use an Oracle database server, next enter: the hostname or IP address of the server that hosts the Oracle database (use the hostname if DNS is supported) in Figure 3.14 the port number of the Oracle server [default is 1521] in Figure 3.16 the name of an Oracle instance that the eG manager should use in Figure 3.17. 166
