Cokko was the gr<strong>and</strong>parent of Karaeng Karunrung. Another of his children<br />

146 was I Linga, whose royal name was I Daeng Nisona <strong>and</strong> who was the<br />

gr<strong>and</strong>parent of [25r] Karaeng ri Tabaringang, the mother of I Mappatamba.<br />

Another of his children was [I Daeng ri Bone. She was the mother of Karaeng<br />

Citta. Another of his daughters, she] 147 married up in Urikeke <strong>and</strong> had a<br />

child Karaeng Urikeke. Another of his children was Karaeng Bontolangkasaq<br />

who had no children. Another of his children was I Bonto whose karaeng-title<br />

was Karaeng Cenrana. He was the father of I Kare Bayang along with his<br />

siblings. Another of his sons was I Sambali. His karaeng-title was Karaeng<br />

Lekoqbodong. He was the gr<strong>and</strong>father of Karaeng Rodia. Another of his<br />

sons was Karaeng ri Maranang. He was the gr<strong>and</strong>father of I Tuqduq <strong>and</strong> the<br />

gr<strong>and</strong>father of the mother of I Ali.<br />

Karaeng Patteqne died. Karaeng ri Maroanging replaced him. Karaeng<br />

Maros died. Karaeng ri Cenrana replaced him. Karaeng Cenrana died. Another<br />

Karaeng ri Cenrana replaced him. His personal name was I Mallewai. His<br />

royal name was I Daeng Maqnassa. Karaeng Maroanging died. Karaeng ri<br />

Suli succeeded him. His personal name, it was I Mappa.<br />

It was this karaeng who first befriended those over in Aceh <strong>and</strong> the ruler<br />

of Mataram.<br />

This karaeng was praised as good-hearted, not aggr<strong>and</strong>izing.<br />

This karaeng lived to age fifty-three. For forty-six years he ruled then<br />

died. Above in Cikkoang, while inside Jongaya, illness came to him on the<br />

ninth night of the month of Safar, on the tenth 148 night of June, on Sunday<br />

night. Once it was day on Sunday he was brought down to his home. On the<br />

twelfth of the [Islamic] month, on the fifteenth night of the Christian month,<br />

on Wednesday, at the stroke of one in the night, he died, 1639 of the Christian<br />

calendar, 1049 of the Islamic calendar.<br />

While he was karaeng, a great epidemic struck, a famine struck, fierce wars<br />

took place.<br />

Nine hundred <strong>and</strong> fifty-six 149 nights after the death of Karaeng Matoaya,<br />

he died too, 150 Tumamenang ri Gaukanna, at the age of fifty-three. 151<br />

Section 9: Tumamenang ri Papambatuna (Sultan Malikussaid)<br />

Tumamenang ri Papambatuna was installed as ruler because he was the child<br />

of an equal wife. 152 One hundred fifty-nine nights thence, 153 at age thirty-two<br />

he became ruler, on the day of Araba, the twelfth of the month of Safar, the<br />

fifteenth of the Christian month of June. He became ruler on Tuesday the<br />

eighteenth, the twenty-first of the Christian month. 154<br />

He informed Tumammaliang ri Timoroq, the tumailalang, the anaq karaeng,<br />

the gallarrang, 155 ‘If I am to be karaeng, together with Tumamenappa ri Bontobiraeng<br />

[Karaeng Pattingalloang] I will rule, for he guides all the people.’
