[Karaeng ri Barung Patola] was married by Karaeng Tunibatta <strong>and</strong> had a<br />

child Karaeng ri Ujung. 11 Divorced by Tunibatta, she was married by Karaeng<br />

Campagaya ri Lau. She became the gr<strong>and</strong>parent of the current Karaeng<br />

Campagaya.<br />

[He also had these children:] 12 the mother of I Daeng Maqdaeng; Karaeng<br />

ri Langkanaya; Karaeng ri Sanjai; I Daeng Tidung [23r] (he became the gr<strong>and</strong>parent<br />

of I Daeng ri Ka, 13 the sabannaraq’s wife, <strong>and</strong> he became the gr<strong>and</strong>parent<br />

of 14 the current Karaeng Bontokappong); the mother of Karaeng ri Dataq;<br />

Karaeng ri Manngarabombang. 15 These are the children of the karaeng, except<br />

those who died while still small.<br />

He ruled together with Tumapaqrisiq Kallonna. This karaeng conquered<br />

Garassiq, conquered Soloka, conquered Endea, conquered S<strong>and</strong>ao, conquered<br />

Kaluku in Galeteng. 16<br />

This karaeng first forged muskets <strong>and</strong> first excelled at writing, built ships,<br />

enjoyed traveling far by ship. He was praised as a dedicated worker [but] not<br />

praised as a great thinker.<br />

It was he who had fought Gowa.<br />

After going over to Melaka he also stopped in Johor. An outst<strong>and</strong>ing debt<br />

was not paid in Johor. 17<br />

As for his death, he died of disease. Right in Talloq he was buried. 18 His<br />

death came before Tumapaqrisiq Kallonna’s, <strong>and</strong> he also ruled before him.<br />

Section 4: Tumamenang ri Makkoayang<br />

Tunipasuruq had a child Tumamenang ri Makkoayang. This Karaeng<br />

Tumamenang ri Makkoayang, his personal name, may I not be cursed, was<br />

I Mappatakangkangtana. His royal name was I Daeng Paduluq. His karaengtitle<br />

before he became ruler was Karaeng ri Pattingalloang.<br />

At age twenty he became ruler. At age fourteen, before becoming ruler, he<br />

destroyed Tidung 19 below in Majeneq.<br />

Tunibatta was beheaded, <strong>and</strong> he [Tumamenang ri Makkoayang] was<br />

installed as speaker for the people of Gowa by Tunijalloq. He had authority<br />

over the people of Boné <strong>and</strong> together with the people of Boné made an agreement<br />

to the north of Boné.<br />

He ruled together with Tunijalloq <strong>and</strong> they conquered Barasaq twice,<br />

conquered Binamuq, conquered Sapaya, conquered Bulukumba. Then these<br />

were made slaves.<br />

It was then they renewed the treaties with all their vassals. So too the declarations<br />

of the ancestors were changed. 20<br />

For eleven years he ruled with Tunijalloq, then died. He was fifty-six years<br />

old. For thirty years he ruled, then died. As for his death, he died of disease.<br />

Up in Bilaya he became ill. In Tamalate he died.
