present study the relati<strong>on</strong>ship <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> yield <strong>and</strong> kernels,/spike<br />

was significant at P=0.O5 <strong>and</strong> the retati<strong>on</strong>ship between<br />

yield <strong>and</strong> kernel weight was not signifÍcant. fhís is<br />

supportÍve <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Quisenberry (tgZ9), who c<strong>on</strong>cluded that kernel<br />

weight was not as important a comp<strong>on</strong>ent <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> yield as was<br />

kernels per spike.<br />

The positive correlati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> yie).d <strong>and</strong> test weight i.s<br />

ín agreement with the reports <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rutger et aL. (L96? ) <strong>and</strong>,<br />

DenHartog <strong>and</strong> Lambert (\953). On an individual basis <strong>on</strong>ly<br />

populati<strong>on</strong> C-70-1 showed a signifieant relati<strong>on</strong>ship.<br />
