NTPC has formed a wholly owned subsidiary<br />
company for trading in power NTPC Vidyut<br />
Vyapar Nigam Ltd., a subsidiary <strong>of</strong> NTPC<br />
transacted business with 18 State Utilities<br />
spread all over the Country, trading in<br />
more than 1300 MUs in 2003-04.<br />
C NTPC Hydro Limited (NHL)<br />
NTPC has formed a wholly owned subsidiary<br />
company for taking up small hydro projects<br />
<strong>of</strong> capacity up to 250 MW. NHL has entered<br />
into a Memorandum <strong>of</strong> understanding with<br />
Government <strong>of</strong> Uttaranchal for development<br />
<strong>of</strong> 108MW Lata- Tapovan Hydel Project<br />
subject to techno-economic viability.<br />
CONSULTANCY SERVICES<br />
Consultancy Wing was set up in 1989 to provide<br />
single window services to all domestic and<br />
international clients. Consultancy Wing, an ISO<br />
9001 certified unit <strong>of</strong> NTPC has achieved a<br />
provisional turnover <strong>of</strong> Rs 24.47 crore and an<br />
estimated pr<strong>of</strong>it <strong>of</strong> Rs 7.45 crore during the<br />
year 2003-2004.<br />
SPECIAL PURPOSE VEHICLE FOR<br />
AFFORESTATION<br />
A Special Purpose Vehicle for Afforestation has<br />
been registered as a society by the name <strong>of</strong><br />
National <strong>Power</strong> Afforestation Society (NPAS)<br />
under Societies Registration Act (1860) with the<br />
objective to increase national forest cover and<br />
facilitate fast forest clearance for the projects<br />
likely to be taken up by NTPC and other<br />
Central <strong>Power</strong> Sector Utilities requiring diversion<br />
<strong>of</strong> forest land.<br />
The MOU to be signed between NPAS, MOP<br />
and MOEF covering the modalities for early<br />
operationalisation <strong>of</strong> NPAS has been made and<br />
is under finalization by MOEF. Approximately<br />
500 Ha. <strong>of</strong> degraded and denuded forest land<br />
has been identified in Uttaranchal for taking up<br />
afforestation.
