Arunachal Pradesh<br />

Site clearance Stage-II accorded by MOEF on<br />

25.08.2003. CEA recommended Stage-II estimate<br />

amounting to Rs. 23.05 cores for pre-construction<br />

& infrastructure development and preparation <strong>of</strong><br />

DPR (excluding Rs. 18.78 crores already incurred<br />

upto August 2002).<br />

8. Teesta Low Dam (Stage-IV) HE Project<br />

(160 MW), W.B.<br />

Site Clearance stage-II has been accorded by<br />

MOEF vide letter dated 20.10.2003. DPR<br />

submitted to CEA on 15.09.2003 for Technoeconomic<br />

Clearance (TEC). TEC accorded on<br />

23.12.2003.<br />

9. Nimmo-Bazgo (Alchi) HE Project,<br />

Laddakh (J&K), (45 MW)<br />

Commercial viability ascertained by CEA. Site<br />

Clearance Stage –I&II has been accorded by<br />

MOEF vide letter dated 18.3.2002 & 01.04.2003<br />

respectively. Draft CPIB memo based on the<br />

recommendations <strong>of</strong> CEA has been submitted<br />

to MOP on 19.06.2003. DPR submitted to CEA<br />

on 08.12.03 for Techno Economic Appraisal<br />

(TEA). TEA meeting held on 12.03.04. TEA<br />

letter issued on 16.03.04.<br />

submitted by NHPC. A copy <strong>of</strong> feasibility report<br />

also submitted to Planning Commission for in<br />

principle approval.<br />

2. Siang Upper HE Project (11000 MW),<br />

Arunachal Pradesh.<br />

Investigation works for preparation <strong>of</strong> Feasibility<br />

Report is under progress. The installed capacity<br />

is to be firmed up on the basis <strong>of</strong> data being<br />

collected for which S&I works at Intermediate<br />

site is in progress. Stage – I estimate has been<br />

recommended by CEA.<br />

3. Subansiri Middle (1600 MW) Arunachal<br />

Pradesh<br />

4. Subansiri Upper HE Project (2000 MW),<br />

Arunachal Pradesh<br />

CEA has advised NHPC to prepare DPR and<br />

take up essential infrastructure works. Proposal<br />

for Site Clearance Stage-II submitted to MOEF<br />

on 16.10.2002 and MOEF vide letter dt 19.6.03<br />

rejected the site clearance on the basis <strong>of</strong><br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> IBWL in case <strong>of</strong> Lower<br />

Subansiri Project. IBWL has Imposed a condition<br />

that no construction <strong>of</strong> Dam up stream <strong>of</strong><br />

Subansiri river be taken up in future.<br />

5. Pakal Dul HE Project (1000 MW), J&K<br />

Feasibility Report has been submitted by NHPC<br />

and Commercial Viability has been established<br />

by CEA vide letter dated 1.8.2001. MOEF has<br />

accorded site clearance stage-I & II in July 2001<br />

& April 2002 respectively. DPR is under<br />

preparation. NHPC has reviewed the project<br />

proposal earlier finalised and some changes in<br />

project parameters are being considered to<br />

reduce cost and that the case scenario for the<br />

project will be worked out after deciding upon<br />

the exact location, submergence and other<br />

parameters.<br />
