8 • Maintenance<br />
The test print allows you to print a test pattern to see if the printhead<br />
is functioning properly or you have enough ink in the cartridge.<br />
1. Press Options.<br />
2. Press Page Down twice.<br />
3. Select "Advanced Features".<br />
4. Select "Maintenance mode".<br />
5. Select "Printer maintenance".<br />
6. Select "Test Print".<br />
7. When prompted, insert an envelope through the machine.<br />
8. You are prompted if the test pattern is OK.<br />

• If test pattern looks OK<br />
A. Press Yes and you return to the PM Maintenance menu.<br />
B. Press Clear (back arrow key) four times to return to the<br />
Home screen.<br />
• If test pattern does not look OK<br />
A. Press No. A list of purges display.<br />
B. Select "Purge A". The system executes a purge (this may<br />
take a few moments).<br />
C. When finished, press Clear (back arrow key) to return to<br />
the PM Maintenance menu.<br />
D. Select "Test Print" to ensure that the system is printing a<br />
good test print (go back to step 7).<br />
NOTE: If the system continues to print poor test prints, you<br />
should replace your ink cartridge (see "Replacing the <strong>Ink</strong><br />
Cartridge/Printhead" procedure in Chapter 8, Maintenance)<br />
and then perform another test print (see above).<br />
