Glossary To do an inspection, simply add postage or connect to the Data Centre as explained in Chapter 6, Adding Postage/Connecting to Data Centre. IntelliLink—A Pitney Bowes technology that allows you to download machine features, and postal rate and sys tem soft ware updates via a digital link. Future IntelliLink fea tures will also provides online access to manage your ac count, pur chase supplies and take advantage of a range of pro fes sion al services. Lock Code—A four-digit code that serves as a user pass word. It prevents unauthorized machine use. Modem—The part of the machine that dials into the Pitney Bowes Data Centre and transfers in for ma tion over the phone line. Origin Postal Code—The Postal Code assigned to your city or town. Mail processed on your machine must be posted from a location in your Postal Code area. Postage-By-Phone®—A service available through Pitney Bowes that allows you to buy postage and check ac count status over the phone. It also permits convenient postal inspection by phone. Presets—A custom machine setting you can call up instantly at the push of a button. You can assign each pre set a num ber of values, depending on the postage mode you're in, how your machine is set up and what options are in stalled. A preset will always have a name and postage amount, and could also have an ac count, ad, class of ser vice, weight of mail piece, operating mode, and other val ues assigned to it. Serial Number—The serial number found on the rear of the machine. Sleep Mode—An energy-saving feature of your machine that clears the display after a certain period of idle time. Press ing any key wakes up the display. Tape Sheets—A sheet of self-adhering paper which you print postage on and apply to a piece of mail or package that is too big to be processed through the machine. G-2 SV61195 Rev. B
