6 • Adding <strong>Postage</strong>/Connecting to Data Centre<br />
Postal Rate Update (mandatory)<br />
Postal rates change periodically. If new rates are available, you can<br />
download them quickly and easily directly from the Pitney Bowes<br />
Data Centre.<br />
The new rates are normally available for download at least seven<br />
days before the effective date. If you connect to the Data Centre in<br />
advance of the rate change effective date and the rates are posted<br />
for download, the system will instruct you to download the rates at<br />
that time. However, the new rates will not take effect in your system<br />
until the effective date.<br />
Some of the common screens encountered when connected to the<br />
Data Centre during a Postal Rate change are listed below.<br />

When a rate change update takes place it may also affect other<br />
pre sets you have set in your mailing machine. You must check<br />
all your presets to insure that they con form to the new rates. See<br />
Chapter 5, Normal and Custom Presets for instructions on changing<br />
pre set values.<br />
The display tells you when a rate change up date is com plete. It also<br />
tells you if the up date is im me di ate or takes effect at a later date by<br />
listing the new date.<br />
