9 • Troubleshooting
The display shows a series of messages during the adding
postage process
Normal
The system is designed to display the progress of the postage re fill.
If the procedure fails for any reason, the display tells you why. Make
the necessary corrections.
System fails to connect to Postage By Phone Data Centre—no
dial tone
System not connected to analog phone line
Make sure you've connected your system to a work ing an a log phone
line (the same type you connect your Fax to). Also make sure the
phone line con nec tors are firmly seated in their re cep ta cles.
Incorrect setup of System Options
One or more of the system options may be setup wrong. Go to the
system options instructions and check the following:
• Does your phone system require you to dial a pre fix number to
get an out side phone line? Make sure to include these in the
setup if needed. See Chapter 7, System Options.
• Is the dial method correct? You have to tell the system if your
phone uses a pulse or tone for di al ing. See Chapter 7, System
Options.
Display Messages
From time to time your system will display an alert or error message.
An alert tells you that something needs at ten tion; an error message
usually tells you about a system con di tion you can fix. In rare
instances you may have to call for service or assistance.
