9 • Troubleshooting<br />
The display shows a series of messages during the adding<br />
postage process<br />
Normal<br />
The system is designed to display the progress of the postage re fill.<br />
If the procedure fails for any reason, the display tells you why. Make<br />
the necessary corrections.<br />
<strong>System</strong> fails to connect to <strong>Postage</strong> By Phone Data Centre—no<br />
dial tone<br />
<strong>System</strong> not connected to analog phone line<br />
Make sure you've connected your system to a work ing an a log phone<br />
line (the same type you connect your Fax to). Also make sure the<br />
phone line con nec tors are firmly seated in their re cep ta cles.<br />
Incorrect setup of <strong>System</strong> Options<br />
One or more of the system options may be setup wrong. Go to the<br />
system options instructions and check the following:<br />
• Does your phone system require you to dial a pre fix number to<br />
get an out side phone line? Make sure to include these in the<br />
setup if needed. See Chapter 7, <strong>System</strong> Options.<br />
• Is the dial method correct? You have to tell the system if your<br />
phone uses a pulse or tone for di al ing. See Chapter 7, <strong>System</strong><br />
Options.<br />
Display Messages<br />
From time to time your system will display an alert or error message.<br />
An alert tells you that something needs at ten tion; an error message<br />
usually tells you about a system con di tion you can fix. In rare<br />
instances you may have to call for service or assistance.<br />
