Troubleshooting and routine maintenance<br />

Set Distinctive Ring to Off. See Turning off<br />

Distinctive Ring on page 48.<br />

Use the drum unit until you have a print quality<br />

problem; then replace the drum unit with a new<br />

one.<br />

See Replacing the drum unit (494-6) on page<br />

1. Open the front cover, and then press<br />

Clear/Back.<br />

2. Press 1 to reset.<br />

Remove the duplex tray and install it again.<br />

Clean the primary corona wire on the drum unit.<br />

(See Cleaning the corona wire on page 126.)<br />

Turn the power switch off, wait a few seconds,<br />

and then turn it on again. Leave the machine for<br />

15 minutes with the power on. (The machine can<br />

be turned off for up to 4 days without losing faxes<br />

stored in the memory. See Checking if the<br />

machine has faxes in its memory on page 116).<br />

Do one of the following:<br />

Refill the paper in the paper tray or MP tray.<br />

Remove the paper and load it again.<br />

Verify the number and try again.<br />

Close the paper tray properly.<br />

Set up the One-Touch or Speed Dial number.<br />
