Students can earn credit for up to three successfully<br />
completed higher-level classes in<br />
which a score <strong>of</strong> 4 or higher is achieved on<br />
the appropriate IB examination. For more<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> complies with<br />

Special Admissions Programs<br />
Academic Development Program<br />
When the Admissions Committee believes<br />
applicants may find the transition to collegelevel<br />
work especially challenging, the applicants<br />
may be considered for a special freshman-year<br />
Academic Development Program<br />
(ADP). <strong>The</strong> program concentrates on English,<br />
logical thinking, reading skills and study<br />
habits, as well as work in the student’s major<br />
field. Freshmen who complete all requirements<br />
<strong>of</strong> the ADP program have normal<br />
sophomore standing.<br />
Summer Bridge Program<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> is committed to helping<br />
students who have demonstrated achievement<br />
and a desire to attend college but who need to<br />
improve their verbal skills. <strong>The</strong> Summer<br />
Bridge program assists students in making the<br />
transition from high school to college and in<br />
the future development <strong>of</strong> reading and writing<br />
skills. <strong>The</strong> summer program and mentoring<br />
during the academic year are designed to<br />
help students achieve their potential and succeed<br />
in their degree program. Students are<br />
chosen on the basis <strong>of</strong> a careful examination<br />
<strong>of</strong> high school transcripts, standardized test<br />
scores, and extracurricular activities.<br />
Undergraduate Admission and Expenses 15<br />
Transfer Student Admission<br />
Students who wish to transfer to <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong> must submit applications<br />
and the usual credentials: <strong>of</strong>ficial high school<br />
records, SAT scores and transcript(s) from the<br />
college(s) attended. (All <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts<br />
must be submitted regardless <strong>of</strong> whether or<br />
not credit was earned.) At the discretion <strong>of</strong><br />
the Admissions Committee, students from<br />
other accredited colleges may be admitted<br />
provided:<br />
1. <strong>The</strong> courses to be transferred are equivalent<br />
or comparable to courses <strong>of</strong>fered at<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong>;<br />
2. Students are required to follow all<br />
requirements prescribed for the degree<br />
program at <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong>;<br />
3. No credit will be given for courses with<br />
grades less than C.<br />
Transfer credit is reviewed on an individual<br />
basis. Students transferring are required to<br />
earn a minimum <strong>of</strong> 30 credits for an associate’s<br />
degree or 63 credits for a baccalaureate<br />
degree at <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scranton</strong>. Special<br />
orientation sessions are held for transfer students.<br />
It should be noted that some departments<br />
require that at least half <strong>of</strong> the credits<br />
in the student’s major be taken here at the<br />
<strong>University</strong>.<br />
Validation <strong>of</strong> Business Transfer<br />
Courses<br />
Students may validate courses taken at a<br />
non-AACSB institution by successfully completing<br />
one or more advanced courses in the<br />
subject for which the course in transfer is a<br />
foundation course. Approval is granted by the<br />
Dean <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Kania School <strong>of</strong> Management.<br />
This applies only to lower-division transfer<br />
courses which the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers at the<br />
upper-division level.<br />
High School Scholars<br />
High school students who have completed<br />
their sophomore or junior year with a minimum<br />
<strong>of</strong> a B+ grade average may take one<br />
<strong>University</strong> course each term until they graduate<br />
from high school. Courses may be taken<br />
for credit or for audit at a special tuition rate<br />
<strong>of</strong> $100 per credit. Students may enroll for a<br />
maximum <strong>of</strong> three credits per session. Individual<br />
exceptions may be made if GPA/SAT
