This is a program designed for individuals<br />
who hold a bachelor degree in human services<br />
or a related field, or are matriculating in a<br />
baccalaureate program in human services or a<br />
related field; and are interested in pursuing<br />
careers in substance abuse counseling.<br />
* Some prerequisite courses may be required, as determined by math-placement testing.<br />
Completion <strong>of</strong> course work alone is only<br />
one <strong>of</strong> several criteria for state certification.<br />
State certification requires a minimum <strong>of</strong> a<br />
baccalaureate degree, 1,500 hours <strong>of</strong> supervised<br />
clinical work experience in a drug and<br />
alcohol treatment facility or agency, and successful<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> a state-wide examination<br />
as specified for each level <strong>of</strong> certification.<br />
