ASSOCIATE IN ARTS<br />

<strong>The</strong> Associate in Arts is <strong>of</strong>ten classified as<br />

the Liberal Arts “transfer degree” in that it<br />

provides the student with a broad exposure to<br />

the arts and sciences.<br />

Degree Requirements for<br />

Associate in Arts*<br />

Each candidate for the degree must complete<br />

60 semester hours <strong>of</strong> credit. Of these, 54<br />

credits must be earned in the liberal arts,<br />

according to a prescribed plan covering the<br />

humanities, social/behavioral sciences, philosophy,<br />

theology/religious studies, and natural<br />

sciences/mathematics. <strong>The</strong> remaining 6<br />

semester hours are allotted to free electives.<br />

Applicants who have attended other accredited<br />

colleges may transfer up to 30 credits for<br />

applicable courses in which a grade <strong>of</strong> C or<br />

better was earned.<br />
