Chapter 3 – Descriptive Results<br />

A total <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 207 women were enrolled into this study between 2002 and 2005 (Table 3.1),<br />

from the three clinic sites. The majority <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> research participants were enrolled from the<br />

Women’s OPD at the <strong>Health</strong> Sciences Centre (HSC).<br />

Demographic Informati<strong>on</strong><br />

The mean age <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> women at the time <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> enrollment in this study was 19.0 ± 4.7 years and<br />

ranged from 14 to 37 years. The average age <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> participants enrolled at <strong>Health</strong> Acti<strong>on</strong><br />

Centre was 22.8 ± 4.8 years, 21.9 ± 4.6 at Mount Carmel Clinic, and 17.7 ± 4.2 years at<br />

Women’s Hospital, <strong>Health</strong> Sciences Centre. Participants enrolled at the Women’s<br />

Hospital clinic site were significantly younger than women enrolled at the other sites<br />
