• The question was rephrased as shown above. This needs <strong>to</strong> be taken <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> account<br />

when <strong>in</strong>terpret<strong>in</strong>g the data.<br />

• The 2005 survey stated that the first three answer options (Institution, Faculty,<br />

School/department) are meant for HE respondents <strong>and</strong> the next three (Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal,<br />

Senior management team, Department level) for FE. In the 2003 survey, this was not<br />

made clear.<br />

• The ‘Section staff’ option was removed <strong>in</strong> 2005.<br />

• Institutional level decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g is cited frequently by HE respondents (90% <strong>in</strong><br />

2005)<br />

• Senior management team decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g is cited frequently by FE respondents<br />

(83% <strong>in</strong> 2005).<br />
