The Maxis Leadership Development
Engine (LDE) programme is designed to
ensure that we have the right calibre of
leaders, in the right roles and at the right
time to meet current and future business
needs. The LDE is part of our strategy
for building management capability and
inspirational leadership.
Lifelong Learning
We are part of a fast-moving,
knowledge-intensive industry and we see
learning as a lifetime process to help our
employees stay abreast of technology
and embrace the inevitability of change.
In 2011, we spent more than RM7 million
on training and learning opportunities for
our people.
The Maxis Academy was set up in
2001 and has become an outstanding
centre of excellence for Information,
Communications and Technology (ICT)
training and development. It offers our
employees a unique and stimulating
learning environment in which to raise
their talent and capability levels. Last year,
more than 3,000 employees participated
in a diverse range of programmes.
The Maxis Internship Programme
provides undergraduates with the
opportunity to gain exposure in a high
performance organisation which operates
at the cutting-edge of the fast moving
telecommunications industry. In 2011, we
were proud to support over 100 interns.
We also encourage employees who wish
to pursue opportunities in institutions
of higher learning. The Continuous
Development Partnership Programme
is designed for employees interested
in pursuing part-time undergraduate
or postgraduate degrees while the
Further Education Scheme gives selected
employees the benefit of sabbatical leave
to obtain professional post-graduate
degrees at top-tier global universities.
As part of our extended welfare
to employees’ families, we provide
scholarships to the children of our
employees for undergraduate studies
through the Maxis Scholarship for
Excellence Awards. Since inception
up to the end of 2011, Maxis has
invested RM2.9 million in scholarships
to employees’ children. The Maxis
Young Achievers’ Awards Programme
recognises employees’ children who have
achieved outstanding results in key public
examinations.
Leadership
We are committed to further
strengthening the leadership effectiveness
of our Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
members through our executive
development programmes. Since 2011,
we have provided SLT members with an
Executive Coach to strengthen personal
and leadership effectiveness.
Maxis management

mentoring and training

their leadership skills.
