Traces of Rationalization in Indian<br />

Business Enterprise<br />

In this epoch of internationalism in competition and<br />

world-markets for diverse goods it would be strange if<br />

lndia should have failed to be invaded by rationalization<br />

in one or other of its elements as a factor in contemporary<br />

business organization. l<br />

In the every day economic<br />

parlance of India indeed it is not yet a universal category<br />

as in some of the more advanced countries of Eur­<br />

America. But India is already industrialized or<br />

industrially revolutionized enough to assimilate in part at<br />

least some of the contents of rationalization in her<br />

.finance. te:hnique and organization.<br />

Measured in terms of result~ per capita of population<br />

as well as per square mile of territory. tLe industrial revolution<br />

of India should appear to he very modest. India<br />

happens to be still. like nearly the whole of Eastern and<br />
