Traces of Rationalization in Indian
Business Enterprise
In this epoch of internationalism in competition and
world-markets for diverse goods it would be strange if
lndia should have failed to be invaded by rationalization
in one or other of its elements as a factor in contemporary
business organization. l
In the every day economic
parlance of India indeed it is not yet a universal category
as in some of the more advanced countries of Eur­
America. But India is already industrialized or
industrially revolutionized enough to assimilate in part at
least some of the contents of rationalization in her
.finance. te:hnique and organization.
Measured in terms of result~ per capita of population
as well as per square mile of territory. tLe industrial revolution
of India should appear to he very modest. India
happens to be still. like nearly the whole of Eastern and
