exclude others from the use of an indication that reproduces, imitates or falsifies<br />

the indication in any <strong>for</strong>m. Producers could, as a condition of trading over<br />

their products, prohibit downstream operators in the market, such as distributors,<br />

manufacturers <strong>and</strong> retailers, from blending the product with cheap coffee<br />

or cocoa supplies that do not originate from the area signified by the indication.<br />

In the long term, this would allow coffee <strong>and</strong> cocoa farmers to differentiate their<br />

distinctive products from commodity chains <strong>and</strong> to negotiate the price of their<br />

product independently.<br />
