3.21.7.5 The support person should not :<br />
• Discuss evidence. If the child begins to talk about<br />
the detail of the abuse the support worker should<br />
not stop the child talking but should not ask<br />
questions. It may be appropriate to say that they<br />
cannot explore this area further as it will be<br />
discussed at court<br />
• Make assumptions based on the child's age or<br />
appearance<br />
• Give assurances that cannot be guaranteed, e.g.<br />
the use of TV link<br />
3.21.7.6 The support person should ask for advice on any point of<br />
uncertainty or confusion from the appropriate colleague or<br />
agency, e.g. court social worker, Reporter, procurator<br />
fiscal.<br />
3.21.7.7 The team leader should decide who should offer guidance<br />
and support to carers and other siblings. He/she should<br />
table this for discussion at the core group meeting.<br />
3.21.7.8 Delay in cases being brought to court cause added stress<br />
to the child. Efforts should be made to avoid this. The team<br />
leader should keep in contact with the Reporter and<br />
procurator fiscal to check on progress. He/she should<br />
