5.3.4 It will be the responsibility of the Service Unit Manager (<strong>Child</strong>ren and<br />

Families) to convene the Review Case Conference. Any<br />

professional is entitled to request a Review Case Conference<br />

5.4 General<br />

5.5 Purpose of <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Register<br />

5.5.1 The <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Register provides a central point of rapid<br />

enquiry for professional staff who are concerned about a child’s<br />

safety, development or welfare.<br />

5.5.2 The objectives of maintaining such a <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Register are as<br />

follows:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

(c)<br />

(d)<br />

(e)<br />

(f)<br />

(g)<br />

To make essential basic information readily available to<br />

professionals involved in child protection work;<br />

To facilitate the collation, recording and appropriate<br />

passing on of enquiries to the register;<br />

To facilitate the collection of statistical data;<br />

To ensure regular review of children on the register<br />

To ensure that all those, but only those, who need to know<br />

are in possession of details on the Register;<br />

To help keep track of children and families who change<br />

address;<br />

To ensure that criteria for registration are uniformly applied<br />

Each and every child on the <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Register must at all<br />

times be subject to a formal <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Plan.<br />

5.6 Location of the <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Register<br />

5.6.1 For operational purposes <strong>East</strong> <strong>Ayrshire</strong>’s <strong>Council</strong>’s <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong><br />

Register is held by the Service Unit Manager (<strong>Child</strong>ren and Families).<br />

The register is also held by the Keeper of the Register at the <strong>Child</strong>ren<br />

and Families Section, Civic Centre, John Dickie Street, Kilmarnock<br />

KA1 1BY, Telephone: (01563) 576901.<br />

5.6.2 In addition outwith office hours a copy of the Register is held by the<br />

Emergency Stand Service at 35, Church Street, Glasgow,<br />

Telephone: 0141 305 6930.<br />

5.7 Checking the <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Register<br />
