4.13.1 Once a child’s name has been placed on the <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong><br />
Register and a <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Plan has been formulated, the<br />
implementation of this plan and its effectiveness in protecting the<br />
child should be reviewed within three months and at six monthly<br />
intervals thereafter while the child’s name remains on the register.<br />
The Local Authority should also consider the need for a Review Case<br />
Conference when there are significant changes in the child’s or<br />
family’s circumstances.<br />
4.14 Purpose of Review Case Conference<br />
4.14.1 <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Review Case Conferences are essentially Reviews<br />
of progress in dealing with the case. Attention should be paid to the<br />
following in all <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Review Case Conferences:<br />
(a) Assessing and monitoring the continuing<br />
appropriateness and efficiency of the <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong><br />
Plan;<br />
(b)<br />
Identifying any significant event which has occurred or is<br />
envisaged in the life of the child which might effect the<br />
<strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Plan; this should be brought immediately<br />
to the attention of the <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Case Conference<br />
members.<br />
4.14.2 Examples of such events are:<br />

(d)<br />
Return home of a child is being considered or there is<br />
a possibility of resumption of contact with someone<br />
who is known or thought to have abused a child in the<br />
past, or who is known or thought to have a history of<br />
violence to any person;<br />
Whenever a further episode of abuse is suspected<br />
(whether or not of the same nature as previously);<br />
If any significant new information of any sort emerges<br />
which may influence the appropriateness of the <strong>Protection</strong><br />
Plan.<br />
If any member of the Case Conference requests a Review<br />
Case Conference.<br />
4.15.1 The key worker and other staff with tasks relevant to the <strong>Child</strong><br />
<strong>Protection</strong> Plan will prepare written reports for distribution to other<br />
members of the Review <strong>Child</strong> <strong>Protection</strong> Case Conference. These<br />
