SS: …yes of course, which no-body knows.<br />

AM: Yes I saw a documentary last week which actually which he was on <strong>and</strong> he said they<br />

offered numerous amounts of money you know to not go to court <strong>and</strong> he, quite rightly <strong>in</strong><br />

my op<strong>in</strong>ion said no I want to go all the way because it’s the pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of the matter.<br />

SS: That’s right, yes yes, bless his heart [//] Yeah no he was stunn<strong>in</strong>g he was stunn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>and</strong> I th<strong>in</strong>k <strong>and</strong> I mean <strong>and</strong> I’m hop<strong>in</strong>g that lots of teachers will see that <strong>and</strong> it’s great that<br />

teachers TV has grabbed it. Um I have yet to see it <strong>and</strong> it was so excit<strong>in</strong>g, I mean it was<br />

weird be<strong>in</strong>g there I mean I had been at both court cases for Shirley Piece, who was<br />

teacher <strong>in</strong> Southampton, Portsmouth I th<strong>in</strong>k, one of those Port town <strong>in</strong> the late 80’s, no<br />

90’s who had been bullied by kids <strong>and</strong> she attempted to take a case under the Sex<br />

Discrim<strong>in</strong>ation Act that she’d been bullied under a les [//] because of a lesbian…<br />

AM: {right}<br />

SS: …<strong>and</strong> it was a dodgy case but we were really hopeful that we would w<strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> this was<br />

pre the 2003 Act obviously <strong>and</strong> it was an attempt to get the legislation to acknowledge<br />

that under the Sex Discrim<strong>in</strong>ation Act you could be [//] um got at as a lesbian…<br />

AM: {yeah}<br />

SS: …<strong>and</strong> it went all the way to the appeal court<br />

AM: {right}<br />

SS: …<strong>and</strong> ironically Cherie Blair was barrister for the local authority…<br />

AM: {oh}<br />

SS: …which was pretty shock<strong>in</strong>g really.<br />

AM: This was pre 97? Or maybe…<br />

SS: {no no no it was while Tony was <strong>in</strong>, was Prime M<strong>in</strong>ister, no, oh yes absolutely.<br />

AM: Right.
