React to Vehicle Rollover<br />

Conditions: In a vehicle in a combat environment, equipped with<br />

assigned weapon, helmet, body armor, eye protection, and hearing<br />

protection.<br />

Standards: Shouts "ROLLOVER! ROLLOVER! ROLLOVER!" as<br />

center of gravity shifts, assumes the proper body position during rollover,<br />

places hands on ceiling when releasing seatbelt, exits with weapon,<br />

establishes security upon exit, and shouts "WATER! WATER! WATER!"<br />

when vehicle is going into water.<br />

Per<strong>for</strong>mance Steps<br />

1. As the vehicle's center of gravity shifts, shout "ROLLOVER! ROLLOVER!<br />

ROLLOVER!"<br />

2. If a gunner is assigned, pull the gunner into the cab of the vehicle and hold<br />

in place.<br />

3. Plant feet fixed on the floor while holding onto a stationary object.<br />

4. Tuck head and chin into chest and brace <strong>for</strong> impact.<br />

5. After vehicle has stabilized—<br />

a. Disconnect headset (if applicable).<br />

b. Brace one hand on ceiling.<br />

c. Release seatbelt with other hand and at once put both hands on ceiling.<br />

d. Slide out of seatbelt.<br />

e. Orient self to the nearest exit.<br />

f. Unlock combat door.<br />

g. Open door. If it will not open, try another door.<br />

h. If necessary, work as a team to open and brace jammed doors.<br />

i. Exit with weapon.<br />

j. Establish security.<br />

k. Assist crew to exit.<br />

l. Apply first aid to injuries.<br />

m. Obtain assistance as needed.<br />

6. If vehicle rolls onto its side—<br />

a. Disconnect headset (if applicable).<br />

b. Lower level Soldiers unbuckle seat belts.<br />

c. Assist upper level Soldiers in a safe manner while unfastening seat<br />

belts and lowering to the ground level.<br />

d. Orient self to the nearest exit.<br />

e. If necessary, work as a team to open and brace jammed doors.<br />

f. Exit with weapon.<br />

g. Establish security.<br />

h. Assist crew to exit.<br />

l. Obtain assistance as needed.<br />
