Per<strong>for</strong>mance Steps<br />

f. Throw the grenade overhand so that the grenade arcs, landing on or<br />

near the target.<br />

Note: To be effective the target must be within the bursting radius of the grenade.<br />

g. Allow the motion of the throwing arm to continue in a natural manner<br />

once the grenade is released.<br />

h. Seek cover to avoid being hit by fragments or direct enemy fire.<br />

Note: If no cover is available, drop to the prone position with your protective head gear<br />

facing the direction of the grenade’s detonation.<br />

Evaluation Preparation: Setup: Provide the Soldier with the equipment<br />

and/or materials described in the conditions statement.<br />

Brief Soldier: Tell the Soldier what is expected of him by reviewing the<br />

task standards. Stress the importance of observing all cautions, warnings,<br />

and dangers to avoid injury to personnel and, if applicable, damage to<br />

equipment.<br />

1. Assumed proper throwing position (prone, kneeling, or —— ——<br />
