Performance Steps
g. Determine if the end-point falls within the bar scale.
(1) Record the value on the scale of the end-point if the end-point fits
on the scale.
(2) Add 4,000 meters to this value (a) to get the total difference.
h. Determine if the end-point falls outside the bar.
(1) Repeat steps 5d and 5e until the end-point falls within the bar.
(2) Add 4,000 meters to the value you derived in step 5g(1) for each
time you performed step 5d to achieve the total distance.
Evaluation Preparation: Setup: Provide the Soldier with the equipment
and/or materials described in the conditions statement.
Brief Soldier: Tell the Soldier what is expected of him by reviewing the
task standards. Stress the importance of observing all cautions, warnings,
and dangers to avoid injury to personnel and, if applicable, damage to
equipment.

Determine the Grid Coordinates of a Point on a Military Map
Conditions: Given a 1:50,000-scale military map, a 1:50,000 grid
coordinate scale, a pencil, paper, and a point on the map with a
requirement to determine the grid coordinates.
Standards: Determine the coordinates of the grid square, determine
coordinates using coordinate scale and without use of coordinate scale.
Add the two-letter 100,000 meter square identifier to determine grid
coordinate.
