(1) Record the value on the scale of the end-point if the end-point fits<br />

(2) Add 4,000 meters to this value (a) to get the total difference.<br />

h. Determine if the end-point falls outside the bar.<br />

(1) Repeat steps 5d and 5e until the end-point falls within the bar.<br />

(2) Add 4,000 meters to the value you derived in step 5g(1) <strong>for</strong> each<br />

time you per<strong>for</strong>med step 5d to achieve the total distance.<br />

Evaluation Preparation: Setup: Provide the Soldier with the equipment<br />

and/or materials described in the conditions statement.<br />

Brief Soldier: Tell the Soldier what is expected of him by reviewing the<br />

task standards. Stress the importance of observing all cautions, warnings,<br />

and dangers to avoid injury to personnel and, if applicable, damage to<br />

Determine the Grid Coordinates of a Point on a Military Map<br />

Conditions: Given a 1:50,000-scale military map, a 1:50,000 grid<br />

coordinate scale, a pencil, paper, and a point on the map with a<br />

requirement to determine the grid coordinates.<br />

Standards: Determine the coordinates of the grid square, determine<br />

coordinates using coordinate scale and without use of coordinate scale.<br />

Add the two-letter 100,000 meter square identifier to determine grid<br />

coordinate.<br />
