Per<strong>for</strong>mance Steps<br />

4. Secure the grenade.<br />

a. Carry hand grenades using the proper procedures.<br />

WARNING<br />

Never carry the grenades suspended by the safety pull ring or<br />

safety lever. Do not attach grenades to clothing or equipment by<br />

the pull ring. Do not tape hand grenades to Soldier's gear. Do not<br />

attempt to modify a grenade.<br />

b. Ensure that the grenade is all the way inside the carrying pouch.<br />

c. Secure pouch flap.<br />

Evaluation Preparation: Setup: Provide the Soldier with the equipment<br />

and or materials described in the conditions statement.<br />

Brief Soldier: Tell the Soldier what is expected of him by reviewing the<br />

task standards. Stress the importance of observing all cautions, warnings,<br />

and dangers to avoid injury to personnel and, if applicable, damage to<br />

equipment.<br />

1. Inspected hand grenade shipping container, if<br />

a. Fragmentation grenade.<br />

b. Riot control grenade.<br />

c. White phosphorus (WP) grenade.<br />

d. HC (white) smoke grenade.<br />

e. Colored smoke grenade.<br />

f. Incendiary grenade.<br />

2. Inspected the hand grenade canister, if applicable. —— ——<br />

a. Checked the fuse was screwed in hard on the body<br />

of the grenade.<br />

b. Checked the position of the safety clip.<br />

c. Checked the safety pin. If positioned by mistake,<br />

pushed it into place with care while holding the lever down<br />

safe. If bent, bent it back into position with care.<br />
