2.6 Race and Ethnicity
• As shown in Table 2-7 and Figure 2-4, the City’s racial composition is markedly different
from that of Los Angeles County as whole. In 2000, the non-Hispanic White population
comprised only 4.1 percent of Inglewood’s population, compared with 31.1 percent in the
County.
• In addition, the Black population in Inglewood is much greater than that of the County;
46.4 percent of Inglewood’s population is Black as compared to just 9.5 percent of the
County as a whole.
• Also, while Asians makeup 11.8 percent of the County’s population, they makeup just
1.1 percent of the City of Inglewood’s population.
• Persons of Hispanic origin are relatively equally represented in both the City and County.
The City of Inglewood’s population is 46.0 percent Hispanic while Los Angeles County
is 44.6 percent Hispanic.
