T.P.D.M.V.2.4
If right and left turning traffic share the same lane the capacity
of the combined stream is given as follows :-
Q B-C. Q B-A
B - 4C >««
where Q D and Q,.. are determined using equations 1 and 2 with
Jo—A
JD—v
the same minor stream width w for both streams and F is the
proportion of minor road traffic turning left.
(ii)
At some layouts the straight through major road stream C-A becomes
blocked when there is a queue of right turning vehicles C-B.
Substantial capacity limitations will arise only In those cases
where the residual width for through traffic is less than 2,5m. In
these cases Q is given by the equation :-
*
Q C-A= 18 °° ° - Q / Q ) P0u/h
There follows an example in the use of the priority junction
capacity equations.
