Brush retainers can be made from Part #26634<br />
control wire or similar material. The retainer is U<br />
shaped, with two legs 1/2” (13 mm) high (2), 3/4”<br />
(19 mm) long (3), Fig. 22, inset.<br />
<br />
1. Install brush spring and brush into holder.<br />
2. Compress brush and spring. Install retainer.<br />
3. Repeat for remaining brushes.<br />

Axial Compression Brush Spring<br />
Use a brush retainer to hold brushes in place while<br />
assembling the armature to the end cap.<br />
Dimensions for the brush retainer in Fig. 23 are:<br />
(1) – 7/8” (22 mm)<br />
(2) – 2” (51 mm)<br />
(3) – 1” (25 mm)<br />
(4) – 1” (25 mm)<br />
(5) – 1/4” (6 mm) radius<br />
(6) – 2-1/2” (64 mm)<br />

Assemble Armature<br />
When all parts have been inspected, lightly lubricate<br />
bearings(1) in both end caps with #20 oil, Fig. 26.<br />
1. Install spacer (2) to armature shaft (if equipped).<br />
2. Assemble armature to brush end cap.<br />
3. Remove brush retainer(s).<br />
