Remove Flywheel<br />

Flywheel Nut – Models 290000, 303000, 540000,<br />
610000<br />
1. Prevent the flywheel from turning with Flywheel<br />
Strap Wrench, #19433 (5) around outer rim of flywheel,<br />
Fig. 14.<br />
2. Turn the flywheel nut COUNTERCLOCKWISE<br />
(arrow) with a 1/2” breaker bar (4) and a 30 mm<br />
socket to remove.<br />

NOTE: See the special procedure at the end of this<br />
section for flywheel removal on engines with<br />
the PowerLink system.<br />
1. Reinstall flywheel nut (2). Turn nut down flush<br />
with top of threads, Fig. 16.<br />
2. Install Flywheel Puller #19203 (1).<br />
3. Tighten puller screws equally until flywheel<br />
loosens.<br />

1. Place Flywheel Holder #19321 (6) on fan<br />
retainer with lugs of flywheel holder engaging<br />
slots on the fan retainer, Fig. 15.<br />
• DO NOT strike the flywheel with a hard<br />
object or a metal tool. This could cause the<br />
flywheel to shatter in operation.<br />
• Use approved flywheel removal tools.<br />
<br />
NOTE: If engine is equipped with rewind starter hub<br />
remove starter hub screw first. Then remove<br />
flywheel nut.<br />
2. Turn the flywheel nut COUNTERCLOCKWISE<br />
(arrow) with a 1/2” breaker bar (4) and a 30 mm<br />
socket to remove<br />
NOTE: Do not remove fan retainer and fan at<br />
this time.<br />
