DRAFT RECOMMENDED STANDARD FOR SPACE LINK EXTENSION SERVICE MANAGEMENT<br />

1.7.1.5.5 Sender and Receiver<br />

The SLE-SM document exchange protocol is described in terms of transmitting an SLE-SM<br />

Message Set from a Sender to a Receiver. On the occurrence of certain exception conditions,<br />

the Receiver sends SLE-SM Exception Responses (see 1.7.1.5.8) to the Sender.<br />

1.7.1.5.6 SLE-SM Document<br />

A standard-content communiqué exchanged between SLE-SM Sender and Receiver entities,<br />

containing either SLE-SM Message Sets (see 1.7.1.5.7) or SLE-SM Exception Responses<br />

(see 1.7.1.5.8).<br />

1.7.1.5.7 SLE-SM Message Set<br />

An ordered collection of one or more SLE-SM messages sent from a Sender to a Receiver in<br />

a single SLE-SM Document.<br />

1.7.1.5.8 SLE-SM Exception Response<br />

A standard-content communiqué that is returned from the Receiver to the Sender when the<br />

processing of a received document results in exception conditions.<br />

1.7.1.5.9 SLE-SM Message<br />

A standard-content component of an SLE-SM Message Set that is one of the four generic<br />

SLE-SM message types: invocation, operation return, notification, and confirmation.<br />

1.7.1.5.10 Syntactic Validation<br />

Determination that a received document is a properly formed SLE-SM document of a<br />

version that is supported by the Receiver.<br />

1.7.1.5.11 Authorization Validation<br />

The validation of an SLE-SM Message Set to ensure that the Sender of the message set is<br />

authorized to send messages in the context of the <strong>Service</strong> Agreement and that the <strong>Service</strong><br />

Agreement is supported by the Receiver.<br />

1.7.1.5.12 <strong>Service</strong> <strong>Management</strong> Validation<br />

The validation of an SLE-SM message to ensure that the values of the parameters of the<br />

message are consistent among themselves, that the contents of the message are within the<br />

<strong>CCSDS</strong> 910.11-R-2 Page 1-9 March 2008
