Using the FH-869M Holder for Mounted Brownie Film The FH-869M is used when scanning mounted medium-format (Brownie) film. It can be used to scan up to two slides, one 6 × 4.5 or 6 × 6, the other 6 × 7, 6 × 8, or 6 × 9. Place the 6 × 4.5 or 6 × 6 slide at the front of the holder, the 6 × 7, 6 × 8, or 6 × 9 slide at the back. Insert the slides with the matte emulsion surface down (the shiny surface up). Slide the mounts into place between the guides, oriented to match the apertures in the holder. Stop when the slide comes into contact with the base of the guides. 96 Mount guides
Thumbnails are displayed in the thumbnail drawer in the scan window in the order shown below. Direction of insertion Cautions Do not place negative and positive film in the holder at the same time. To avoid damaging the film, use a blower to remove dust and lint from the film and holder. Leaving dust, lint, or other foreign objects on the film or holder during scanning could result in reduced image quality or in damage to the film. Mounts must be 1.0–3.2 mm in thickness. Other mounts can not be used. Do not use force when inserting slides. Failure to observe this precaution could damage the clips that hold the mounts in place. Should you encounter resistance, try inserting the slides at a slight angle. Be sure to insert slides between the guides. The scanner may not be able to adjust focus correctly if slides are placed on top of the guides. Inserting the slides on top of the guides could also damage the clips that hold the mounts in place. 97
