Masking Sheets When scanning film strips one at a time, be sure to cover the remaining apertures with a masking sheet. Make sure to place the film strip on the left side and the mask strip of the right side with respect to the direction of insertion as shown below. When scanning two strips of different lengths, cover any open apertures by cutting a masking sheet into the appropriate lengths and placing it over the apertures. Leaving apertures open when scanning film of different lengths can interfere with accurate color reproduction. When scanning two film strips containing less than six frames but of equal length, place the film so that it covers the apertures at the end of the holder that will be inserted in the scanner. Leaving the apertures at the front of the holder uncovered can interfere with accurate color reproduction. 84 Direction of insertion Masking sheet Masking sheet
Inserting Film and Masking Sheets Cut the masking sheets to the length needed to cover open apertures. Make sure that the film and masking sheets are inserted between the guides. If you insert the holder into the scanner with film riding up on the guides, the film holder may jam in the scanner. 85
