<strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong>, <strong>Indiana</strong><strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Thoroughfare</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>Section 4–Alternatives EvaluationThere are currently no transit options available for residents living in Georgetown, Greenville, andthe unincorporated areas <strong>of</strong> the <strong>County</strong>. The <strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Commissioners has beenrecently approached by Southern <strong>Indiana</strong> Transit System (SITS) to gauge the interest indeveloping an on-demand transit service for rural <strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong>. SITS provides the same servicefor approximately four other rural counties. The <strong>County</strong> Commissioners and <strong>County</strong> Council are inthe process <strong>of</strong> discussing appropriate funding options and developing a benchmark system toensure that the transit is being adequately used by the public. We recommend that the <strong>County</strong>consider this type <strong>of</strong> on demand transit service as a possible component to a solution that reducescongestion on <strong>Floyd</strong> <strong>County</strong> roadways.4.06 MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATIONS ANALYSISA. Corridor OperationsWith the proposed improvements in place, the corridor operations will not deteriorate significantlyin the year 2030. Old Vincennes Road and Paoli Pike continue to be the worst performingcorridors because <strong>of</strong> the heavier traffic volumes that they serve. All the corridors operate at LOS Dor better. US 150/Old Vincennes/Paoli PikeIf all the proposed improvements are incorporated into the roadway network, theintersection operations at nearly all locations studied will be acceptable in the year 2030.During the AM peak-hour all intersections along US 150 will operate at LOS C or better.The intersections along Paoli Pike will operate at LOS D. The four-way stop controlledintersections <strong>of</strong> Old Vincennes Road/Luther Road and Scottsville Road/St. Mary’s Road willhave the worst operations at LOS E during the AM peak-hour.During the PM peak-hour some intersections along US 150 will operate poorly. Mostintersections will operate at LOS D or better. The intersections <strong>of</strong> US 150/Buck Creek Roadand US 150/Brush College Road will operate at LOS F during the PM peak-hour. This isdue to the heavy through volumes on US 150 westbound. The study team recognizes,however, that traffic signals at every intersection on US 150 is not feasible.
