With theplanned addition <strong>of</strong> a traffic signal and lane addition on SR 64, thisintersection operates acceptably during both peak hours in 2030.This intersection will require reconfiguration to accommodate the traffic thatwill be rerouted to it because <strong>of</strong> the conversion to right-in right-out <strong>of</strong> WestKnable Road and Edwardsville Galena Road. On westbound SR 64 theintersection will require an additional left-turn bay and an additional throughlane. Eastbound SR 64 will require an additional left-turn bay and anadditional through lane. Southbound Tunnel Hill Road will require a dual leftturnbay, and a through-right lane. Northbound Tunnel Hill Road will requirethe addition <strong>of</strong> a left-turn bay. This signal should be coordinated with bothsignals at the I-64 ramp terminals.Operations modeling indicates that with forecasted AM and PM peak-hourvolumes, the intersection configuration shown in Figure 4.01-23 operates atLOS C during both peak hours.
