Motor Vehicle SystemThe motor vehicle system analyzed in this update comprises three main study areas. The firststudy area includes the roadways US 150, Old Vincennes Road, and Paoli Pike to the north ofI-64. The second study area includes State Routes 62 and 64 near their interchange with I-64. Thethird study area includes County Line Road and Bugaboo Lane in the northeast portion of FloydCounty.1. US 150/Old Vincennes/Paoli PikeThe basic layout of the US 150/Old Vincennes Road/Paoli Pike corridor is shown in Figure2.02-1. The US 150 corridor is located in the middle of Floyd County. US 150 providesaccess from the northwest portion of the county to I-64. All of US 150 in the study area is a50 mph roadway. The first 1.8 miles of US 150 to the east of Galena is a two-lane road. AtBuck Creek Road US 150 changes to a four-lane divided highway and continues another3 miles until it intersects with I-64. From there US 150 continues into Louisville, runningcoincident with I-64. Paoli Pike is a 3.7 mile, two-lane road that connects US 150 to I-265and New Albany. The speed limits on Paoli Pike vary between 30 and 45 mph. The easternportion of the roadway has steep grades and tight horizontal curves.
