3.2.1 Data ALU Input Registers (X1, XO, Y1, YO)X1, XO, Y1, and YO are four 24-bit, general-purpose data registers. They can be treatedas four independent, 24-bit registers or as two 48-bit registers called X and Y, developedby concatenating X1 :XO and Y1 :YO, respectively. X1 is the most significant word in X andY1 is the most significant word in Y. The registers serve as input buffer registers betweenthe XDS or YDS and the MAC unit. They act as Data ALU source operands and allownew operands to be loaded for the next instruction while the current instruction uses theX DATA BUSYDATABUS24 24XOX1YOY124 24(MULTIPLIER56I SHIFTERIACCUMULATOR,ROUNDING,AND LOGIC UNIT56~YIA (56)II8 (56)I56 56LISHIFTERILIMITERI2424Figure 3-2 Data ALU
