SIERRA LEONEBoth C mydas <strong>and</strong> E. imbricata have been reported to nest; both species atSussex (source cited in Brongersma, 1982), C. mydas on one of the "TurtleIsl<strong>and</strong>s" (source cited in Parsons, 1962), <strong>and</strong> E. imbricata at Bonth^(Loveridge <strong>and</strong> Williams, 1957). According to Cansdale (1955), E. imbricatais "common" in Sierra Leone, especially among the Turtle Isl<strong>and</strong>s off SherbroIsl<strong>and</strong>. No recent information on nesting, trends or foraging grounds isavailable.International trade sierra Leone is not a Party to CITES. The onlyrecord of trade in turtle products recorded in CITES Annual Reports was theimport of one shell of C. mydas to the USA in 1981 <strong>and</strong> seven shells ofChelonildae in 1984.LEGISLATIONWild Animals, Birds & Fish Preservation Ordinance (Amendment) 1948.A licence is required to export more than two of any species of animal.470
