30 Using the defibrillator <strong>Welch</strong> <strong>Allyn</strong> <strong>AED</strong> <strong>10</strong> Automated External DefibrillatorNoteTo remove pads, pull the wire upward from the device.NoteDO NOT REUSE PADS.WARNING Excessive body hair may affect the operation of the defibrillationpads or cause skin burns on the patient. Remove body hair as needed to ensurethat the defibrillation pads make proper contact with the patient's chest.To attach defibrillation pads and connect the cable1. Open the package containing the defibrillation pads and cable.2. Peel off the backing from the defibrillation pad labeled RA. Place this pad just belowthe patient’s right collarbone (sternum) as illustrated on the <strong>AED</strong> <strong>10</strong> pad placementillustration.RALL3. Peel off the backing from the defibrillation pad labeled LL. Place this pad over the ribson the patient’s left side below the breast (apex) as depicted on the pad placementillustration.4. Plug the pad connector into the <strong>Welch</strong> <strong>Allyn</strong> <strong>AED</strong> <strong>10</strong> on the left side of the unit.RALLConnect the cablefrom the defib pads123<strong>AED</strong><strong>10</strong>NoteIf the pads are not properly applied or if the cable is not properly connected to the<strong>Welch</strong> <strong>Allyn</strong> <strong>AED</strong> <strong>10</strong>, it will alert the user with text and voice.“Apply defibrillation pads to the patient’s bare chest.
