Access <strong>for</strong> Work on or Near High Voltage ElectricalApparatusUnder Access Permit SignA sign <strong>of</strong> appropriate dimensions having the words‘UNDER ACCESS PERMIT’ or similar printed inwhite on a green background or otherwisecon<strong>for</strong>ming to AS1319.Under Sanction <strong>for</strong> Testing SignA danger sign <strong>of</strong> appropriate dimensions havingthe words ‘UNDER SANCTION FOR TESTING’printed in red on a white background or otherwisecon<strong>for</strong>ming to AS1319.Warning Barrier and/or SignA barrier and/or sign <strong>of</strong> suitable material, colouredyellow, or alternatively yellow and black, to indicatethe need <strong>for</strong> a warning, or otherwise con<strong>for</strong>ming toAS1319.9.7.2.5 Barriers and Signs <strong>for</strong> Electrical AccessPermitsPrior to the issue <strong>of</strong> an <strong>electrical</strong> access permit,barriers and signs shall be erected:• to make it clearly evident which <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus is under <strong>electrical</strong> access permitand which is not; andPage 102 <strong>of</strong> 148 Blue Book – December 2005
Access <strong>for</strong> Work on or Near High Voltage ElectricalApparatus• to guard against mistaken or inadvertentcontact with other <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus.The above shall be achieved with the use <strong>of</strong>appropriate signs and barriers including ‘live’ signsand ‘under access permit’ signs. In positioningsigns and barriers consideration shall be given toall approaches to the <strong>work</strong> area.Additional barriers and signs may be erected afterthe issue <strong>of</strong> the <strong>electrical</strong> access permit byagreement between the authorised <strong>electrical</strong>operator and the recipient in charge.In particular instances where identification ispositive, such as on some high voltage overheadlines and underground cables, and providingappropriate safeguards have been taken,Organisational procedures may dispense with theuse <strong>of</strong> barriers and/or signs.9.7.2.6 Barriers an/or Signs <strong>for</strong> Sanction ForTestingPrior to the issue <strong>of</strong> a sanction <strong>for</strong> testing barriersand signs shall be erected:• to make it clearly evident which <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus is under sanction <strong>for</strong> testing andwhich is not; andBlue Book – December 2005 Page 103 <strong>of</strong> 148
