Approach To Electrical ApparatusThese safe approach distances may only be usedin conjunction with the following control measures:• The safe approach distances shall bemaintained from any part <strong>of</strong> the persons bodyor any conducting or unapproved objecttouching any part <strong>of</strong> the persons body by usingcontrolled movement;• Positioning <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong>er to minimise the risk <strong>of</strong>the specified distance being infringed. Thisincludes any unapproved object or tool beingheld by the <strong>work</strong>er;• A person specifically trained and authorised toper<strong>for</strong>m the <strong>work</strong> at the safe approachdistance;• Workcrew on site risk assessments areconducted;• Safety observers are used to monitor the <strong>work</strong>activities;• Minimise the exposure at the safe approachdistance;• Addressing adverse Impact <strong>of</strong> externalinfluences on plant and equipment, e.g. traffic,boom movement, footing.Blue Book – December 2005 Page 55 <strong>of</strong> 148
