Earthing <strong>of</strong> High Voltage Electrical Apparatusso placed as to remain effective if adjoiningconductors are disconnected.Wherever practicable earths shall be placed at thesite <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong>.8.3 REMOVAL OF EARTH WHEN WORKINGUNDER AN ACCESS AUTHORITYDuring <strong>work</strong> under an access authority, therecipient in charge may authorise the removal <strong>of</strong> anearth <strong>for</strong> meggering, reconductoring, or otherpurposes, only if such action is considerednecessary and safe, and provided –• the operating authority that has operationalcontrol <strong>of</strong> the earth and the operatingauthority who applied the earth agrees;• in cases where the earth is listed on theaccess authority, the operating authority whoissued the access authority is consulted, toconfirm that the removal <strong>of</strong> the earth will notaffect any other access authorities on issue;• persons likely to be affected by the removal<strong>of</strong> the earth are notified; and• consideration is given to induced voltages.Blue Book – December 2005 Page 73 <strong>of</strong> 148
