Placing High Voltage Electrical Apparatus in Service10 PLACING HIGH VOLTAGEELECTRICAL APPARATUS INSERVICEPRINCIPLE - High voltage <strong>electrical</strong> apparatusshall not be placed into service until it has beencleared <strong>for</strong> service.10.1 CLEARANCE FOR SERVICEAn operating authority shall not consider <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus being available <strong>for</strong> service until it hasbeen handed over from the constructing ormaintaining authority by written notification or byOrganisational procedures.10.2 CONNECTIONS TO NEW OR OUT OFCOMMISSION ELECTRICALAPPARATUSBe<strong>for</strong>e any <strong>electrical</strong> connection is made wherebynew <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus or any <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus previously out <strong>of</strong> commission can beenergised by direct switching or live <strong>work</strong>procedures:-• the operating authority shall be notified <strong>of</strong>the intention to make such connection;Blue Book – December 2005 Page 111 <strong>of</strong> 148
