DEFINITIONSDefinitionsFor the purpose <strong>of</strong> this Code <strong>of</strong> Practice, thefollowing definitions shall apply:Note: For definitions <strong>of</strong> barriers and signs referClause 9.7.2.41 ‘Access Authority’ means any <strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong>authorisation which allows access to, <strong>work</strong> onor near, or testing <strong>of</strong> <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus.Examples used in this Code are:• ‘Electrical Access Permit’ means a <strong>for</strong>m<strong>of</strong> authorisation which allows access to,and <strong>work</strong> upon, <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus.• ‘Sanction <strong>for</strong> Testing’ means a <strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong>authorisation to allow energisation <strong>of</strong><strong>electrical</strong> apparatus <strong>for</strong> testing purposes.• ‘Permit to Work Adjacent to Net<strong>work</strong>Assets’ means a document providingwritten permission to persons, other thanemployees or contractors <strong>of</strong> the net<strong>work</strong>operator, to <strong>work</strong> within safe approachdistances or near or in the vicinity <strong>of</strong> thenet<strong>work</strong> operator’s <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus.2 ‘Alive’ see LivePage 14 <strong>of</strong> 148 Blue Book – December 2005
Definitions3 ‘Appliance’ means any instrument or devicedesigned <strong>for</strong> the use near or in direct contactwith live high voltage conductors.4 ‘Approved’ means having appropriateorganisation endorsement in writing <strong>for</strong> aspecific function.5 ‘Authorised Person’ means a person withtechnical knowledge or sufficient experiencewho has been approved, or has the delegatedauthority to act on behalf <strong>of</strong> the organisation, toper<strong>for</strong>m the duty concernedExamples used in this Code are:• ‘Authorised Applicant’ means anapproved person who has been assessedas competent against an approvedtraining standard to make application <strong>for</strong>specified types <strong>of</strong> access authorities.• ‘Authorised Electrical Operator(Electrical Operator)’ means anapproved person who has been assessedas competent against an approvedtraining standard to carry out switchingoperations on high voltage <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus.• ‘Authorised Live – HV Worker’ means anBlue Book – December 2005 Page 15 <strong>of</strong> 148
