Access <strong>for</strong> Work on or Near High Voltage ElectricalApparatus9 ACCESS FOR WORK ON OR NEARHIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICALAPPARATUSPRINCIPLE – An appropriate safe access systemshall be applied be<strong>for</strong>e any <strong>work</strong> on or near highvoltage <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus9.1 GENERALNo person shall touch or <strong>work</strong> near the high voltageconductors <strong>of</strong> any <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus unless –• the person is a recipient <strong>of</strong> an <strong>electrical</strong>access permit covering that <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus and the high voltageconductors have been discharged and/orearthed at the <strong>work</strong> site, and the <strong>electrical</strong>access permit is available<strong>for</strong> reference at thesite <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong>;• the person is a recipient <strong>of</strong> an <strong>electrical</strong>access permit covering the conductors <strong>of</strong> ahigh voltage cable and the de-energisedstate <strong>of</strong> the cable at the <strong>work</strong> site is confirmedin accordance with clause 9.8 and the<strong>electrical</strong> access permit is available <strong>for</strong>reference at the site <strong>of</strong> the <strong>work</strong>;Blue Book – December 2005 Page 77 <strong>of</strong> 148
