General Safety Requirements3.10 TAPES AND OTHER MEASURINGDEVICESOnly approved non-conducting tapes and rulesshould be used in the vicinity <strong>of</strong> live <strong>electrical</strong>apparatus. Conductive tapes shall not be usednear exposed live <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus unlessapproved <strong>for</strong> use in accordance with organisationalprocedures.3.11 USE OF SAFETY OBSERVERSWhere it is considered after a risk assessment thata person, equipment or mobile plant mightinadvertently infringe Safe Approach Distances, a<strong>safety</strong> observer shall be posted.For <strong>work</strong> near <strong>electrical</strong> apparatus, use <strong>of</strong> a <strong>safety</strong>observer to warn against inadvertent infringement<strong>of</strong> safe approach distances may be required underthis <strong>code</strong>, under organisational procedures orunder precautions determined appropriate underthe hazard identification, risk assessment andcontrol procedures used by the personsconducting the <strong>work</strong>.Blue Book – December 2005 Page 33 <strong>of</strong> 148
